Now in its 5th year, moves is the largest exhibition platform in the UK for experimental short film and new media with a unique focus on movement, exploring new ways of telling stories through films, installations and screen-based work.
moves09 will run a series of 8 forums exploring the narrative possibilities of movement on screen. These sessions will take place at the Cornerhouse, Manchester’s international centre for contemporary visual arts and film and start with a paper followed by a discussion, moderated by an industry professional. Each session will last 1 1/2 hour: 45 minutes for the paper presentation and 45 minutes for the moderated discussion.
moves09 is inviting submission for papers on three topics:
* narrative possibilities of movement in screen work
* poetry and movement for the screen
* how technological development is enabling new directions for visually rhythmic experimental film (including screendance), such as machinima work, the development of softwares like eyesweb, arduino…
