The YOU MAY FUND 2009 enables professional creative practitioners based in Wales to develop, complete or present work to be shown at May You Live In Interesting Times: Cardiff Festival of Creative Technology. The fund is open to all professional creative practitioners, individuals or collectives from any artform, living and working in Wales.

About May You Live in Interesting Times

With the advent of technology firmly placed in everyday life, May You Live in Interesting Times, Festival of Creative Technology 2009, will explore `do-it-yourself` and `accessibility`.

Participation is now the driving force behind much digital content. Not only has computing led the way for experienced programmers to develop reliable open-source systems and products readily available to the masses; now, individuals and small groups can work together towards what is termed `collaborative knowledge development`. Mass-technology has enabled communities and groups to transmit, become connected and share information technologically. The festival will offer new insight in to the implications of technology-enabled mass communication and idea development.

The festival will focus on works that draw on available technology and existing social spaces and networks utilised on a day-to-day basis. We expect that some work will address the city of Cardiff, some may establish links elsewhere in Wales or internationally. Participation in the festival is not restricted to completing new work – for instance, the festival itself may be used as a research base for new work.
